I have used these headers on several small boards, including several OLED displays and the Arduino Pro Mini, and they work well. You can separate them by hand, but sometimes that results in breaking off the wrong count of pins, so I usually separate them with a pair of cutting pliers.

Overall good product
It is really hard to break them to have 1 header only. Having 1x2 headers is much easier, but breaking it down to 2x1 is quite difficult and frustrating. The plastic on the header is also fragile and will sometimes dislodge itself and move along the length of the pin, thus not making the connection very strong.
