The VL53L5CX 8x8 ToF Array Sensor Breakout offers sophisticated distance sensing with 8x8 multizone ranging and a wide field of view, making it ideal for robots and advanced motion sensing applications. This sensor measures distance by emitting low-powered infrared lasers at a target, providing excellent accuracy and sampling frequency (up to 60 Hz) with a detection range of 2 cm to 4 m.

The ability to return an 8x8 grid of readings as an array allows for detecting movement from specific directions, making it suitable for smart security systems, object tracking, or collision avoidance in robotics without requiring multiple separate sensors.
