The WLAN ESP-WROOM-02 Shield for Arduino features a pre-soldered ESP8266 module and power supply, making it a plug-and-play solution. It eliminates the need for hard work, so you can start using the ESP8266 in serial AT command serial mode right away. If you wish to explore the ESP8266 further, you can upload different firmware such as NodeMCU and others.

All the GPIO pins are accessible through inline header pins, and the shield also has an online user manual to help you get started quickly.
