The Sherline Manual 17-Inch Benchtop Lathe (Inch) (EU) is a versatile and precise machine designed for machinists who require additional space between centers. This model offers 17 inches between centers, providing ample room for working with parts held in a chuck alongside a larger tailstock chuck and a long drill bit. The increased center-to-center distance, compared to the 8-inch tabletop lathe, is complemented by zero adjustable handwheels and a rocker toolpost, enhancing its value and functionality.
This benchtop lathe is capable of turning parts up to 3.5 inches in diameter over the bed and up to 1.88 inches over the carriage without the use of riser blocks. With an optional riser block, it can accommodate parts up to 6 inches in diameter over the bed. The electronic speed control allows for continuously variable speed adjustments ranging from 70 to 2,800 RPM, eliminating the need for belt changes. Additionally, a secondary pulley position is available to provide extra torque at lower RPMs when necessary.
Constructed in the USA, this lathe is ideal for producing small, precision parts from materials such as wood, plastic, aluminum, and steel. Despite its compact desktop size, it delivers the precision and accuracy expected from full-size machines. The lathe is equipped with a powerful 90V DC motor and an electronic speed controller, ensuring reliable performance across a range of applications.
Note: Ensure proper safety measures are followed when operating the lathe to prevent injury.
