The Sherline 8-Inch Tabletop Lathe Package B CNC Ready (Metric) (EU) is an exemplary machine designed for precision and versatility in crafting small parts. This lathe is particularly suitable for those seeking a compact yet highly accurate CNC-ready lathe capable of handling materials such as wood, plastic, aluminum, and steel. Despite its desktop size, it offers the precision and accuracy typically associated with full-sized machines.
This CNC-ready lathe comes equipped with factory-installed stepper motor mounts, replacing traditional handwheels, and is prepared for the integration of 23-frame size stepper motors and computer numeric controls. It is important to note that while the lathe is CNC-ready, it requires the installation of stepper motors, a computer, and CNC software to be fully operational. The inclusion of handwheels allows for manual control once dual-shaft stepper motors are installed.
The B Package enhances the lathe's functionality with a comprehensive set of accessories. It includes a 2.5-inch 3-jaw self-centering chuck, a 1/4-inch tailstock drill chuck with key, and Morse arbors. Additional components such as a steady rest, live center, rear mount cutoff tool and holder, and a 3-piece 1/4-inch high-speed steel cutting tool set are also provided. These tools, along with a 5/32-inch T-driver and a 3-piece center drill set, ensure that users have everything needed for a wide range of machining tasks.
The lathe features a robust 90V DC motor with an electronic speed controller, allowing for a spindle speed range of 70 to 2800 RPM. The machine's design includes a 15-inch steel bed, providing an 8-inch distance between centers, and a crosslide measuring 2.75 inches by 6.0 inches. The lathe's construction ensures stability and precision, with a swing over bed of 3.50 inches and a swing over carriage of 1.75 inches.
Note: CNC-ready machines cannot be operated manually unless double-shaft stepper motors are installed.
