The Sherline 18-Inch NexGen Benchtop Mill XY Base DRO (Inch) is a sophisticated milling base designed for precision and efficiency. It is equipped with DRO handwheels, encoders, and sensors, which are compatible with a digital readout box, enhancing the accuracy of milling operations. This base is part of the 5800-series NexGen DRO benchtop mills, known for their advanced features and reliable performance.
The mill base includes an 18-inch extended mill table, providing ample space for various milling tasks. The DRO handwheels are specially designed with 2-inch handwheels on the Y-axis leadscrew and X-axis table feed screw, allowing for precise adjustments. These handwheels can be electronically reset to zero with a simple button press on the DRO display box, facilitating ease of use and accuracy. Each handwheel is crafted with laser-engraved aluminum collars, ensuring durability and clear visibility of measurements.
An oil reservoir is integrated into the X/Y axes, ensuring smooth operation and reducing wear over time. The travel capacity of the mill is substantial, with an X-axis travel of 13.65 inches and a Y-axis travel of 11.0 inches, accommodating a wide range of milling projects.
Optional upgrades are available for the Y-axis leadscrew cover, including a brass tube cover for the rear and an accordion way cover for both the front and rear. These enhancements provide additional protection and longevity to the mill's components. However, it is important to note that the Rigid Mill Column Base must be purchased separately to utilize the brass tube cover, as the round column base of the 8-direction mill is incompatible with this base.
