The Sherline 18-Inch NexGen Benchtop Mill XY Base CNC-Ready (Metric) is a sophisticated milling base designed for precision and versatility in machining tasks. This model is part of the 5800-series and is engineered to accommodate stepper motors on each axis, facilitating the transition to CNC operations. While the stepper motors are not included, the base is equipped with mounts compatible with NEMA #23 stepper motors on both the X and Y axes, allowing for seamless integration of automation components.

The mill base features an 18-inch extended mill table, providing ample space for a variety of milling projects. It includes handwheels that can be attached to the stepper motors, enabling manual control when necessary. These handwheels are resettable and zero adjustable, with laser-engraved aluminum collars that ensure precision and ease of use. The X-axis offers a travel distance of 8.65 inches (220 mm), while the Y-axis provides a travel distance of 11.0 inches (279 mm), making it suitable for a wide range of applications.

An oil reservoir is integrated into the X/Y axes, ensuring smooth operation and reducing wear over time.
