The Sherline 14-Inch 8-Direction Benchtop Mill XYZ Base CNC Ready (Inch) is a versatile milling machine designed for precision and adaptability. This model is crafted to accommodate users who already possess a Sherline lathe, allowing them to transfer the headstock and motor/speed control from their lathe to this mill base with ease. The mill features a robust 14-inch base and a 13-inch table, both of which are equipped with laser-engraved measurements to ensure accuracy during operation.
This benchtop mill is CNC-ready, featuring mounts for stepper motors on the X, Y, and Z axes, which facilitates the integration of computer-controlled automation. Although stepper motors are not included, the design allows for the installation of dual-shaft stepper motors, enabling both CNC and manual control. The inclusion of three low-mass handwheels further enhances the manual control capabilities when dual-shaft stepper motors are utilized.
The mill's travel capabilities are substantial, with movements of 8.65 inches on the X-axis, 7.0 inches on the Y-axis, and 5.38 inches on the Z-axis. These dimensions make it suitable for a variety of small production line processes, where precise control of movement is essential. The CNC-ready feature extends the potential for automation, making it a valuable tool for both hobbyists and professionals seeking to enhance their machining capabilities.
Note: CNC-ready machines cannot be operated manually unless double-shaft stepper motors are installed.
