The Sherline 14-Inch 8-Direction Benchtop Mill XY Base CNC Ready (Metric) is a versatile and robust component designed for precision milling tasks. This benchtop mill base is part of the 2000-series and is engineered to accommodate stepper motors on each axis, facilitating seamless integration into CNC systems. The inclusion of stepper motor mounts on the X- and Y-axes ensures that the mill is ready for CNC conversion, although the stepper motors themselves are not included. For those who prefer manual control, handwheels are provided and can be attached to the stepper motors, allowing for manual operation when necessary. The mill base and table are equipped with laser-engraved scales, enhancing accuracy and ease of use during milling operations.

The mill features a 14-inch base and a 13-inch table, providing ample space for a variety of milling projects. The handwheels on the X- and Y-axes are resettable and zero adjustable, with each handwheel featuring laser-engraved aluminum collars for precise adjustments. An oil reservoir is integrated into the X/Y axes, ensuring smooth and efficient operation by maintaining proper lubrication. The travel capacity of the mill is substantial, with the X-axis offering 8.65 inches (220 mm) and the Y-axis providing 7.0 inches (178 mm) of movement, allowing for a wide range of milling applications.

For enhanced protection and maintenance, optional Y-axis leadscrew cover upgrades are available. These include a brass tube cover for the rear of the Y-axis and an accordion way cover for both the front and rear of the Y-axis. It is important to note that the 8-Direction Mill Column Base must be purchased separately to utilize the brass tube cover effectively.
