The Sherline 10-Inch Tabletop Mill XY Base CNC Ready (Inch) is a precision-engineered component designed for those seeking to integrate CNC capabilities into their milling operations. This base is identical to the one utilized in the 5000-series CNC-ready tabletop mill, providing a robust foundation for precision machining tasks. It is equipped with mounts for NEMA #23 stepper motors on both the X and Y axes, facilitating the seamless installation of stepper motors for automated control. Although stepper motors are not included, the base is prepared for their integration, allowing users to enhance their milling setup with ease.
Included with the mill base are standard 1-5/8 inch handwheels, which can be affixed to the stepper motors. These handwheels are crafted with laser-engraved aluminum collars, ensuring durability and precision. They provide the flexibility of manual control, enabling users to switch between automated and manual operations as required. The mill base features a 10-inch base and a 13-inch table, offering ample space for various milling tasks. The travel capacity of the mill is 8.65 inches on the X-axis and 3.0 inches on the Y-axis, allowing for a wide range of movement and precision in machining operations.
An oil reservoir is integrated into the X/Y axes, ensuring smooth and efficient operation by reducing friction and wear. For those seeking additional protection for the Y-axis leadscrew, optional upgrades are available. These include a brass tube cover for the rear of the Y-axis and an accordion way cover for both the front and rear, providing enhanced protection against debris and wear.
