The Pololu Stepper Motor w/ 38Cm Lead Screw: Bipolar, 200 Steps/Rev, 42×38mm, 2.8V, 1.7 A/Phase is a NEMA 17-size hybrid bipolar stepping motor that integrates a 38 cm threaded rod as its output shaft, transforming it into a linear actuator capable of precision open-loop positioning. This motor is particularly suitable for applications requiring precise linear motion, such as home-built 3D printers and CNC machines. The motor's 1.8° step angle allows for 200 steps per revolution, with each phase drawing 1.7 A at 2.8 V, resulting in a holding torque of 3.7 kg-cm.
The integrated lead screw extends 38 cm from the motor's face, facilitating linear movement without the need for bulky shaft couplers or loose set screws. The accompanying copper alloy traveling nut, equipped with a mounting flange and four threaded holes for M3 screws, moves 8.0 mm per full revolution of the lead screw, achieving a linear resolution of 0.040 mm per full step. Enhanced precision can be attained through microstepping, a feature supported by many bipolar stepper motor drivers.
This stepper motor can be controlled using suitable H-bridges or recommended bipolar stepper motor drivers, such as the MP6500 or AMIS-30543. The motor's four color-coded wires are terminated with a JST XHP-4 connector, facilitating easy integration into various systems. The motor's design ensures efficient linear motion, making it an ideal choice for precision-driven projects.
