The Pololu DRV8434A Stepper Motor Driver Carrier is a breakout board designed for Texas Instruments' DRV8434A micro stepping bipolar stepper motor driver. This device offers micro-stepping capabilities down to a 1/256 step and operates within a voltage range of 4.5 to 48 V. It is capable of delivering approximately 1.2 A continuously per phase without the need for a heat sink or forced airflow and can peak at 2 A.
The driver is equipped with integrated stall detection and employs a ripple control algorithm. This feature allows for precise regulation of the current level, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the motor. The module's pinout and interface bear a striking resemblance to the popular A4988 carriers, making it a suitable replacement for those boards in a variety of applications.
The device also comes with built-in protection against under-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature conditions, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
Please note that despite its robust design, the device should be operated within the specified voltage and current limits to prevent damage due to under-voltage, over-current, or over-temperature conditions.
