The Pololu ACS724LLCTR-2P5AB Bidirectional Current Sensor (±2.5A) Carrier Board is a compact module that facilitates the easy integration of Allegros ACS724LLCTR-2P5AB Hall effect-based linear current sensor into various electronic projects. This sensor is capable of measuring bidirectional current up to ±2.5A and provides an analog voltage output that is proportional to the current flow. The output voltage is centered at 2.5V and varies by 800mV per ampere of input current. The sensor boasts a low internal resistance of approximately 1.2 mΩ, ensuring minimal power loss. It is designed to operate within a supply voltage range of 4.5V to 5V, making it suitable for 5V systems.
The sensors differential Hall sensing technology is adept at rejecting common-mode fields, which means that the sensors measurements are not influenced by the orientation relative to uniform external magnetic fields. The sensors high bandwidth of 120 kHz allows for quick response times, which is beneficial in control applications. An optional FILTER pin is available for bandwidth limiting, which can enhance noise reduction and resolution at lower frequencies. The sensor also includes integrated digital temperature compensation circuitry to maintain accuracy over a wide temperature range. The board is clearly labeled to assist with proper connections and to indicate the direction of positive current flow.
The carrier board comes assembled with all surface-mount components. A strip of header pins is provided to facilitate easy integration into a circuit, although soldering is required. The sensor requires five connections for operation: input current, logic power, and sensor output. The FILTER pin can be adjusted by adding a capacitor to ground, which allows for customization of the boards bandwidth.
Warning: This product is intended for use below 30 V. Working with higher voltages can be extremely dangerous and should only be attempted by qualified individuals with appropriate equipment and protective gear.
