The Luxonis OAK-D W PoE Camera (IMX378) is a superior camera designed for robotic vision. It emulates human perception by integrating a wide stereo depth camera and a high-resolution color camera, enhanced with on-device Neural Network inferencing and Computer Vision capabilities.
The camera utilizes a PoE connection, enabling it to communicate with other computers through various networking protocols such as TCP, UDP, HTTP, and MQTT. The PoE models are equipped with device flash memory, allowing for the execution of programs in standalone mode. The camera is encased in a robust, IP-rated enclosure, making it suitable for industrial and outdoor applications. It employs PoE for both power and GigE connectivity.
The wide Field of View (FOV) of the camera enables the capture of a larger area in a single shot. This feature proves particularly beneficial in multi-camera setups, reducing the number of cameras required to cover an entire area. It is also advantageous for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), as it allows for the coverage of a larger area and provides more features for localization and 3D mapping. Furthermore, it is useful for object tracking and counting, such as counting vehicles or people over a larger area.
The camera boasts 4 TOPS of processing power, including 1.4 TOPS for AI - RVC2 NN Performance. It is capable of running any AI model, including custom-architected or built ones, provided the models are converted. The camera supports various encoding formats, including H.264, H.265, and MJPEG, and can handle 4K/30FPS and 1080P/60FPS.
The camera's computer vision capabilities include warp (undistortion), resize, crop via ImageManip node, edge detection, and feature tracking. It also allows for the execution of custom CV functions. The camera offers stereo depth perception with filtering, post-processing, RGB-depth alignment, and high configurability. It is equipped with an IMU (Either BMI270 6-axis or BNO086 9-axis sensor) and supports 2D and 3D tracking with an ObjectTracker node.
