The Fathom ROV Tether (ROV-Ready) (Twisted Pairs - 1) (100 m 330 Ft) is a professional-grade, neutrally buoyant tether designed for robust subsea applications, including remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). This tether combines exceptional strength and durability with superior electrical performance. It features a pre-installed Binder 77 connector and WetLink Penetrator, facilitating seamless integration with various ROV systems. The tether is embedded with water-blocking fibers to prevent leaks and is available in diameters of 4mm and 7.6mm, making it slimmer than most comparable tethers.
The tether includes one unshielded twisted pair (UTP) of 26AWG wire, arranged similarly to a Cat5 networking cable to resist cross-talk. Its slim profile significantly reduces drag, making it ideal for deep, high-current, and long-distance dives. The tethers lightweight design, weighing just 3 lb (1.4 kg) for a hundred-meter length, enhances portability and ease of handling. However, it is limited to primary communication for the BlueROV2, as it does not support additional tether pairs for other applications.
Constructed with Kevlar strands for strength and Dacron fibers for space filling, the tether is impregnated with a water-blocking compound to prevent leaks from nicks or rips. The high-visibility yellow polyurethane foam jacket offers abrasion resistance and neutral buoyancy. The cables stiffness is optimized to provide flexibility for ROV maneuverability while preventing tangling. This tether is designed to offer versatility and reliability for a wide range of subsea operations.
